Brantôme en Périgord is a former French commune in the department of Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine with 2,176 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017). It belonged to the Arrondissement Nontron (until 2017 Périgeux ) and the Canton of Brantôme .
It was created with effect from January 1, 2016 as Commune nouvelle from the merger of the former communities of Brantôme and Saint-Julien-de-Bourdeilles . Due to a new establishment of the same name as Commune nouvelle Brantôme en Périgord with effect from January 1, 2019, it has only had the status of a Commune déléguée in this new municipality and also houses its administrative headquarters.

Brantôme en Périgord is located about 20 km south of Nontron and about 20 km north of Périgueux in the Périgord Central area of the historic province of Périgord .

history
The decree of December 14, 2015 enabled the establishment of the Commune nouvelle on January 1, 2016. The former municipalities of Brantôme and Saint-Julien-de-Bourdeilles became delegated municipalities.
The decree of November 6, 2018 established the dissolution of Brantôme en Périgord as Commune nouvelle on January 1, 2019 with simultaneous incorporation together with the former municipalities of Cantillac , Eyvirat , La Gonterie-Boulouneix , Saint-Crépin-de-Richemont , Sencenac- Puy-de-Fourches and Valeuil to the new Commune nouvelle Brantôme en Périgord of the same name as delegated municipalities.

Politics and administration
In 2016, the municipality of Brantôme en Périgord belonged to the Arrondissement of Périgueux . Since 2017 it has belonged to the Arrondissement of Nontron .

Brantôme en Périgord belonged to the community association Communauté de communes Dronne et Belle .
tourism
As of August 17, 2016, Brantôme en Périgord has been appointed a Commune Touristique (tourist municipality) for five years, along with five other municipalities of the association of municipalities ( Bourdeilles , La Chapelle-Faucher , Mareuil , Saint-Crépin-de-Richemont et Villars ).
