The center of Condat-sur-Trincou, lying on a rock

Condat-sur-Trincou , Occitan Condat de Trencor is a French municipality with 480 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) of the North department Dordogne in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

etymology

Condat is derived from the Gallo-Roman name condate - meaning mouth, confluence . This should indicate both the confluence of the Trincou in the Côle and the Côle in the Dronne, both of which are located in the municipality.

geography

Condat-sur-Trincou is five kilometers east-northeast of Brantôme en Périgord and 16 kilometers south-southeast of Nontron (as the crow flies). The municipality is surrounded by the following neighboring municipalities:

The community consists of the following hamlets, farmsteads, mills and castles:

Aux Castillières , Aux Nodies , Chassepoule , Fouret , Grosse Borne , La Croix , La Croix de Péage , La Donie , Le Bourdau , Le Grand Maine , Le Grand Roc , Le Grillet , Le Moulin de la Croix , Le Moulin de Valade , Le Petit Champagnac , Le Petit Maine , Le Petit Roc , Le Pont de Verneuil , Le Vigneau , Les Carrières de Verneuil , Les Danes , Les Guillaumies , Les Jarthes , Les Piles , Les Vignes , Mombicout , Mon (t) plaisir , Pagnac , Puy Blanc , Puy Sec , Puyfayol , Saint-Laurent , Tuquet de l'Olivarie and Valade .

The center is on the Trincou , which flows from Villars in the northeast to the Côle . The Côle runs through the south of the municipality to flow into the Dronne at Saint-Laurent at the southwest corner as a left tributary . In front of its mouth, it takes in several dry valleys on the left, including the valleys near Monplaisir and Valade . The last one and a half kilometers before the mouth of the Côle, the Dronne forms the western municipal boundary to Champagnac-de-Belair and then to Brantôme.

The topographically lowest point at 104 meters above sea level is at the mouth of the Côle, the highest point at 208 meters is at the hamlet of Le Grand Maine on the southwest corner. The absolute height difference is 104 meters.

geology

Only flat-lying ( angle of incidence up to a maximum of 12 °, strike direction southeast) sediments of the northern Aquitaine Basin and their alteration products are exposed in the municipality of Condat-sur-Trincou . The shift package begins in the Ligérien ; Its bulbous to flat, white chalk limestone can be seen on the left bank of the Dronne (western edge of the municipality) near les Carrières de Verneuil . Above it follows the Angoumien with the massive Rudist limestone of the Angoulême Formation and the less resistant layers of the Oberturon . The Angoumien is on the left bank of the Dronne, on both sides of the lower Trincous and also on both sides of the Côle. The next higher layer member is the coniacium with its solid, cryptocrystalline fossil limestone, sandy limestone , sands and oyster shill limestone . It is fairly widespread and among other things builds up the rock spur of the town center. The series closes with the sub-tone - gray, platy, glauconite-containing marl limestone . The lower canton can be found in the eastern part of the municipality and on the high altitudes in the south.

Occasionally some altitudes are covered by Pleistocene colluvium , especially the ridges on both sides of the Côle. Würmeiszeitlicher scree filled valleys in Trincoutal and in the right side Côletal. There is a high terrace dating from the Minimum Age on the left edge of the valley of the Côle at Le Grand Roc , while the Côle and Dronne confluence with the Côle and Dronne are often found in the Rise Age. The floodplains of the three rivers are built up from recent sediments.

The foothills of the Mareuil fault crosses the municipal area of Condat-sur-Trincou in an east-southeast direction. This fault has led to a lifting of the southern stratification. The offset amount is approximately 20 meters. The fault crosses immediately south of the town center; When you reach the Côletal, the action becomes more complicated and several smaller branches can then be observed.

The Angoumien was mined as a building block in several quarries, for example at Les Carrières de Verneuil in the Dronnetal, south of the town center in the Trincoutal and at La Croix in the Côletal.
