Albrecht Beyer

Albrecht Beyer (born October 23, 1902 in Perlin , † February 3, 1972 in Bad Doberan ; full name: Albrecht Otto Heinrich Beyer ) was a German Lutheran theologian . He taught at the University of Rostock .

Life

The son of the pastor Albrecht Beyer (1865-1923) and his wife Marie Beyer, born Danckert (* 1871), was in 1921 in Schwerin graduated from high school and first began an apprenticeship as a bank merchant . In the end, however, he studied Protestant theology at the universities of Rostock and Göttingen . After completing his studies in 1925, he attended a preachers' seminar in Schwerin in 1926/1927 and then became vicar of Rostock's Marienkirche .

Beyer went to Warnemünde as a pastor in 1930 . In the following year he was appointed a licentiate in Protestant theology in Rostock . In 1932 he completed his habilitation in systematic theology and then became a private lecturer . He held the position of pastor until 1939, after which he joined the Wehrmacht as a pastor in the Navy. Later he came into French captivity.

Beyer returned in 1948 and resumed his pastoral position in Warnemünde. In the same year he became a lecturer with teaching position at the University of Rostock, which eventually him in 1951 to Professor appointed. He held the professorship and the pastor's position until his retirement in 1968, but did not finish teaching until the following year.

Act

Beyer proved to be a hardworking theoretical and practical theologian. His extensive work, especially in the community, was the reason that there are not many works by him.
