Vaunac is located about 22 kilometers northeast of Périgueux . Vaunac is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Jean-de-Côle in the north and north-west, Thiviers and Eyzerac in the north and north-east, Corgnac-sur-l'Isle in the east, Négrondes in the south, Lempzours in the south-west and Saint-Pierre-de- Côle to the west and northwest.

The National Route 21 runs through the municipality .
