Anderson da Silva (born September 19, 1970 in Goiatuba ), known as Sonny Anderson , is a former Brazilian soccer player and current coach .
Career
society
Sonny Anderson began his career in 1987 at CR Vasco da Gama and moved from Brazil from 1992 to Switzerland to Servette FC . With the club he won the championship directly and through his good performance there he aroused the interest of some French teams, so that the striker moved to Olympique Marseille after just one year . But even here it only lasted a year and so he went to league rivals AS Monaco . In 1997 he won the French championship with the club . After this season, many top teams tried to win the Brazilian, which meant that he signed for almost € 18 million with the Spanish top club FC Barcelona . He was unable to meet the expectations placed on him in Spain and so he returned to France in 1999 for € 19 million , this time to Olympique Lyon . Here he finally found his sporting home and had very successful years there. Among other things, he won the top scorer's crown in the French league three times (1996, 2000 and 2001) . After his contract expired in 2003, he tried his luck again in Spain, at Villarreal FC . At the end of his career he played again between 2004 and 2006 in Qatar , at Al-Rayyan Sport-Club and Al-Gharafa . On June 11, 2007 he finished his career with a team made up of friends with a game against his former club, the Olympique Lyon, which was not meant very seriously.
National team
He was allowed to slip on the Seleção jersey seven times , with his only goal in 1997.
Coaching career
After his playing career, he first worked as a special coach for strikers at Olympique Lyon. In June 2011 he was appointed sports director at Neuchâtel Xamax , but was dismissed after just under a month.

Trivia
Sonny Anderson was known on the field for a fashionable peculiarity: he often wore his socks pulled up above his knees. Thierry Henry later adopted this habit with reference to Sonny Anderson.
He was also known for his goal celebration, where he used both hands as colts, fired a shot and put them back in the "pockets", which is why he is also called El Pistolero .
