Rodrigo Barbosa Tabata (born November 19, 1980 in Araçatuba , Brazil ) is a Qatari soccer player of Brazilian- Japanese origin.
Career
Rodrigo Tabata began his career in Jundiaí in the state of São Paulo in the youth of Paulista FC . He is of Japanese descent . In 1999 he made his debut for the professional team. After that, Tabata went to 11 Brazilian teams from 1999 to 2003.
In 2004 he moved to Goiás EC and thus played for the first time in Brazil at national level in the top division of the A series . Between 2006 and 2008 he played for the famous FC Santos , also in the Brazilian Série A, and he reached the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores with the team in 2007 .
For the 2008/09 season , the midfielder moved to the UEFA area and signed with the Turkish first division club Gaziantepspor . On the first day of the season, Tabata scored the only goal in his first competitive game for the Black and Reds to win 1-0 against Fenerbahçe Istanbul . He also managed a hat trick in a 5-2 win against Kocaelispor on matchday 15 . By the end of the season he had scored eleven goals in 26 league games for Gaziantepspor and also contributed seven assists . Shortly before the end of the 2009 summer transfer period , Tabata moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul for an eight million euro transfer fee and signed a three-year contract. In 2011, his contract with Beşiktaş Istanbul was not extended, so he moved to al-Rayyan SC on a free transfer . In March 2017, the association announced that Tabata had extended until summer 2020.
