Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born September 8, 1994 in Maia ) is a Portuguese football player . The attacking midfielder is under contract with Manchester United and is a senior international .
Career
societies
Fernandes joined the youth team at Boavista Porto in 2008 . The 2009/10 season he played on loan at ADR Pasteleira , in 2012 he moved to Novara Calcio in Italy . From November 2012 he was also used in the first team in addition to the youth team. So he made his Serie B debut on November 3, 2012 in the 1-0 defeat in the home game against AS Cittadella , where he came on for Simone Pesce in the 77th minute . He scored his first goal on February 22, 2013 for a 1-0 lead after 22 minutes in a 6-0 win at Spezia Calcio . With Novara Calcio he finished fifth at the end of the season and thus qualified for the play-offs for promotion to Serie A , in which they had to admit defeat to FC Empoli in the semifinals .
For the 2013/14 season moved Fernandes to Udinese in the Serie A . On November 3, 2013 he made his debut in the 3-0 defeat in the home game against Inter Milan . He played a total of 86 league games for Udinese, scoring eleven goals. For the 2016/17 season Fernandes was awarded to league competitor Sampdoria Genoa with a purchase obligation .
For the season 2017/18 changed Fernandes to Sporting Lisbon . In his first season he won the League Cup with the team . In 33 league appearances, he scored eleven goals. After Sporting Lisbon failed to qualify for the Champions League in May 2018 , the club's training grounds and dressing room were stormed by violent supporters. His team-mate Bas Dost suffered a head injury. Then Fernandes - in addition to coach Jorge Jesus , William Carvalho , Gelson Martins , Rui Patrício , Daniel Podence and Bas Dost - terminated his contract at the end of the season because there were "valid motives" for a unilateral contract termination. In July 2018, Fernandes signed a new contract with Sporting Lisbon that runs until June 30, 2023.
In January 2020 Bruno Fernandes moved to the English Premier League for Manchester United and signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2025.
National team
Fernandes played for the Portuguese U19 national team for the first time on December 4, 2012 when they lost 2-1 to Turkey . On May 21, 2014, he made his debut in a 2-0 win over Mexico for the U20 team , for which he scored his first goal two days later in a 3-1 win over Chile . He played his first game for the U21 national team on November 13, 2014 when he lost 3-1 to England . With the team he took part in the U21 European Championship in the Czech Republic in June 2015 . Fernandes was featured five times in the tournament and lost the final against Sweden on penalties with his team . He was appointed to the Portuguese squad for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . Fernandes was used three times in the tournament and reached the quarter-finals with the team .
On November 10, 2017 Fernandes debuted as part of a friendly against Saudi Arabia in the senior team . In May 2018 he was appointed to the squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia by national coach Fernando Santos . In the tournament, Fernandes played in two group games of his team, which failed in the round of 16 with 1: 2 to Uruguay .
