Aritz Aduriz Zubeldia (born February 11, 1981 in Donostia-San Sebastián ) is a former Spanish football player .
Player career
society
Aduriz came 19 years to the team the second team of Athletic Bilbao after the in Donostia-San Sebastián -born striker had previously played in some smaller clubs in youth, including the farm team of Real Sociedad , Antiguoko. After three years as a regular player, he was awarded to the Segunda División B competitor FC Burgos . He drew attention to himself with 16 goals this season. For the 2004/05 season , Real Valladolid , which had just been relegated to the Segunda División after 13 years of membership in the first division , was interested in a loan deal. In summer 2008 Aduriz moved to league rivals RCD Mallorca .
For the 2010/11 season he moved to Valencia CF for a transfer fee of four million euros . He signed a three-year contract. In his first year, Aduriz scored ten goals in 29 games. After Jonas was signed in January 2011 and due to the fact that coach Unai Emery usually only played with a real tip and entrusted this position to Roberto Soldado , Aduriz found himself on the bench more and more frequently.
For the 2012/13 season Aduriz returned to Athletic Bilbao.
On November 3, 2016, he scored all his team's goals (including three penalties) in a home game in the group stage of the UEFA Europa League in a 5-3 win against KRC Genk . He is the first player to score 5 in a Europa League game.
On May 20, 2020, Aduriz announced his retirement due to a serious hip injury.
National team
Aritz Aduriz made his debut for the Spanish national team on October 8, 2010 against Lithuania. He scored his first international goal in a friendly against Italy to make it 1-1 on March 24, 2016.
Vicente del Bosque added him to Spain 's squad for the 2016 European Championships in France . He was a substitute player three times in the tournament. In the round of 16 against Italy , he came into the game at halftime, but then had to be replaced in the final phase with an injury. The game was lost and Spain was eliminated.
On October 8, 2006 he made his debut for the Basque soccer team in a 2-2 win against the Catalan soccer team . He scored 12 goals in friendly matches for the Basque Country selection. This makes him the team's record scorer.
