The Catalan football selection ( Catalan : Selecció Catalana de Futbol ) is the "national team" of Catalonia established by the FCF ( Federació Catalana de Futbol ) . The Selecció Catalana cannot take part in the international tournaments of UEFA and FIFA , as the Catalan Football Federation (FCF) is not a member of the international associations. The Catalan selection therefore competes in unofficial friendly matches - also against club teams.

Catalonia played their first game against Espanyol Barcelona in 1904 . However, the first international match did not take place against France until 1912 , as previously only club teams were played. Since then, the selection has played more or less longer against national, club and non-officially recognized national teams such as. B. the Basque Country .
