For Spain he played 22 games between 1949 and 1957, in which he scored 13 goals. In his first game on June 12, 1949 in a 4-1 win against Ireland , he was also able to score his first goal. Just a week later, he scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 win over France in just 15 minutes, after which he was nicknamed The Monster of Colombes by the French press . In 1950 Basora took part in the 1950 World Cup with Spain , where he and Zarra formed a congenial storm duo. In the first group game against the USA they were fifteen minutes before the end with 0: 1 before Basora turned the game around with two goals within three minutes; Zarra increased a little later to 3-1. In the second game in the 2-0 win against Chile , he was able to contribute one goal, the other scored again by Zarra. In the third game against England , Zarra was able to score the only goal of the game after an assist from Basora. In the final round, Spain met Uruguay , Brazil and Sweden . In the first game against Uruguay they were quickly back 1-0 before Basora turned the game around with 2 goals within just 7 minutes, but Uruguay managed to equalize 2-2 in the end. Since Spain lost the other two group matches, they finished fourth overall and Basora was second best scorer of the tournament with 5 goals.

In the period from 1948 to 1958 he also played 6 games for the Catalan football team , in which he scored four times.
