Unió Esportiva Lleida was a Spanish football club from the Catalan city of Lleida .
history
The association was founded in 1939 under the name Lérida Balompié . In March 1947, the club merged with Leridano and was named Unión Deportiva Lérida and played in the third Spanish division. Within two years the march through to the Primera División succeeded , in which one played only one season in 1950/51. After six years the class could be held, one rose in 1957 as 20th in the Tercera División . In the following years, apart from a detour to the Segunda División from 1965 to 1968, they commuted between fourth and third division back and forth. In 1978 the association gave itself its current name. 1987 succeeded the promotion to the second highest Spanish league. After two years they were relegated again, but managed as the first in the table the direct rise. After 3 years in second division, he returned to the House of Lords in 1993, the Primera División. Again, relegation could not be avoided and UE Lleida played again in the Segunda División until 2001. This was followed by three years in Segunda División B , before being second class again from 2004 to 2006. Since 2006 they played again in the Segunda División B. Due to debts of 28 million euros, the club was wound up in May 2011. Its launch site was then auctioned off and acquired by an entrepreneur based in Lleida. The successor club is called Lleida Esportiu .
