Renaldo Lopes da Cruz , called Renaldo , (born March 19, 1970 in Cotegipe , Bahia ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

The player started his career at CR Guará from the satellite town of the same name west of Brasília . After he stood out there with good performances, a move to the first division club Atlético from Paraná came about. Two years later I went to Belo Horizonte for the Atlético Mineiro. There Renaldo won the top scorer's crown in Série A in 1996 . This success led Deportivo La Coruña from Spain to sign the player. He received the jersey with the number 22, which Bebeto previously wore at La Coruña . In the club Renaldo played together with Rivaldo and Mauro Silva . He could not repeat his good performance here and was loaned out again after a year. After an interlude at various lower class clubs, there was again a commitment for a season in South Korea in 2004 .

Until the age of 42, Renaldo played for various, mostly second to fourth class clubs in Brazil.

National team

Because of his performance in the 1996 championship , Renaldo was appointed to the Brazilian national team. He played a friendly game on November 13, 1996 against the Cameroonian national football team in Pinheirao in Curitiba.
