The Torneio Roberto Gomes Pedrosa 1967 was the first season of the tournament and the 9th Brazilian soccer championship after the recognition of this competition and the Taça Brasil by the CBF in 2010.

Season course

The competition started on March 5, 1967 in its new season and ended on June 8, 1967. The championship was organized by the federations of the states of São Paulo FPF and Rio de Janeiro FERJ . The background to this was the expansion of the Torneio Rio-São Paulo competition, which had been held between the associations until then . At the end of the season, the Palmeiras São Paulo celebrated its fourth title (according to the count from 2010).

The top scorers were César Maluco from champions Palmeiras São Paulo and Ademar Pantera from Flamengo Rio de Janeiro with 15 goals .

1 round:

In the first round, the 15 participants were divided into two groups. All participants in both groups played against each other once (14 games per team). The best four teams in each group advanced to the final round.

Final round:

In the final round, the teams met each other in the first and second leg. The best team from all games became champions.
