Arílson de Paula Nunes , called Paulo Nunes , (born October 30, 1971 in Pontalina , Goiás ) is a former Brazilian football player .
Career
The player started his career with Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro . In the early 1990s, Flaemgo produced a number of great talents from its own youth teams, including a. Djalminha , Júnior Baiano , Marquinhos , Marcelinho Carioca , Nélio or Sávio . Due to the great competition in the club, he moved to Porto Alegre Gremio despite very good performances and first title wins . Here he met Mário Jardel , with whom he formed a very successful attacking duo. In addition to other national and international title wins, Paulo Nunes was able to achieve the top scorer crown in the Brazilian championship in 1996 . His success led Benfica Lisbon from Portugal to sign the player. He could not repeat his good performances here and moved back to Brazil after just one year. Paulo Nunes won Brazilian Cups with three different clubs, two Brazilian champions and two different Copa Libertadores winners. A not so common success story at the national level in Brazil.
Paulo was appointed to the Junior Soccer World Cup in Portugal in 1991 and made six appearances here. After that, despite his numerous national successes, he was hardly considered in the national team. The player only came to two missions.
