Marcelinho Carioca (born February 1, 1971 in Rio de Janeiro ; real life Marcelo Pereira Surcin ) is a former Brazilian soccer player .

Career

1988 to 1994

He began his career in 1988 with the Flamengo Rio de Janeiro club . In the first season 1988/89 he completed five league games. A personal goal he did not succeed. In the following season he was involved in eight games, where he scored one goal this season. Again a goalless season was the 1990/91 season, where he stood nine times on the lawn. In the 1991/92 season he took part in 17 league games, three passes ended in goal. In the 1992/93 season he played six league games and scored one goal. Last season at Flamengo, he played 19 games and scored five goals before making his first career move.

1995 to 2001

His next stop was Corinthians São Paulo , where he was active in a total of eight seasons from 1994, with the exception of the 1997/98 season. In his first season at the São Paulo club, he played 25 games and scored eight goals. The next year he was involved in 16 games in which he scored five times. He played twelve games in the 1996 season, once he managed to get the ball into the net. In the following year 1997 he was still under contract with the club, but did not take part in league games. After he spent the 1997/98 season at the Spanish club Valencia CF, he returned to the Brazilian club Corinthians São Paulo. On his comeback he took part in 28 games, scoring 19 goals. In the 1999 season he played 19 games in which he scored 13 goals. In 2000 he was on the pitch 15 times with the team, scoring five goals. In 2001 he ended his time with the Corinthians, where he could show 120 league games and 50 goals.

From 2001 onwards

He then moved to the club Santos , where he played 15 games and scored five goals. At the end of the year he moved to the Japanese club Gamba Osaka for a year , where he was on the lawn 21 times; three times he promoted the ball into goal. In 2002 he returned to Brazil for a year. For the year signed a contract with the club CR Vasco da Gama , where he played 18 games and scored nine times. In the 2003/04 season he left the club again and was under contract with the Saudi Arabian club al-Nasr . He stood on the lawn twelve times and scored a total of six goals. Marcelo went to the club CR Vasco da Gama for one game before signing a contract with the French club AC Ajaccio for the 2004/05 season . There he played ten games and scored two goals.

He returned to Brazil in 2005 and was under contract with Brasiliense FC that year . He participated in 26 league games and shot nine passes into goal. The next year he signed a contract with Corinthians São Paulo , played five league games, but couldn't score a goal that year. In 2007 he was active at EC Santo André , initially playing in Série B for two seasons . He took part in eight games in the first year of 2007, in the second year of 2008 he was involved in 31 league games in which he scored eight times. In his last year as an active player he rose to Serie A , played 32 games and scored five goals.

His stage name Marcelinho Carioca is made up of Marcelinho ( little Marcelo ) and the term Carioca , which describes the inhabitants of Rio de Janeiro .
