Sávio Bortolini Pimentel (born January 9, 1974 in Vila Velha ) is a former Brazilian football player . He played in the position of left midfielder and has both Brazilian and French citizenship.

Career

Sávio, who can also act as a playmaker , began his career in 1992 with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro . After five years in his home country, the 170 cm tall player moved to Real Madrid in Spain , with whom he won the Champions League in 1998, 2000 and 2002. After this last title with Los Blancos , he moved to Girondins Bordeaux on loan . When he was supposed to return to Madrid, Real showed no more interest in him and sold him to Real Zaragoza . He was a regular there for three years, but did not get a new contract in Spain in 2006. Then he went back to his home club Flamengo , for which he was active for half a year. He received an offer from Real Sociedad San Sebastián , which he accepted and played for the Basques . After his relegation at the end of the season, he wanted to continue playing in Spain and moved to UD Levante , where he dissolved his contract in early 2008 because the heavily indebted club could no longer pay salaries. After he had played for half a year at the lower class Brazilian club Desportiva Capixaba , Sávio moved to Anorthosis Famagusta in August 2008 . Since 2010, he plays for Avaí FC in the Brazilian Série A .

National team

Sávio made his debut for the national team in 1994. A year later he was part of the Seleçcão squad at the 1995 Copa América in Uruguay . The following year he was again at a tournament, this time at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 1996 . In 2000 he played his last game for the national team; by then he had completed 44 international matches, in which he scored 17 goals.
