Associação Desportiva Ferroviária Vale do Rio Doce , Desportiva Ferroviária for short , is a Brazilian football club from Cariacica in the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo .

history

On July 7, 1963, the association was founded as Associação Desportiva Ferroviária Vale do Rio Doce after the associations Vale do Rio Doce, Ferroviário-ES, Cauê, Guarany-ES, Valeriodoce-ES and Cruzeiro-ES merged. All of these associations were founded by employees of the Companhia Vale do Rio Doce . The company made this merger.

In 1964 the club won its first title, the Espírito Santo National Championship . In 1974 the club entered the Série A for the first time and finished 34th. In 1980 the club played again in the Série A and finished 15th, which is the club's best result. 1993 Desportiva Ferroviária took part for the last time in the Série A and finished the season in 29th place.

On April 19, 1999 the association became a private company and changed its name to Desportiva Capixaba . Since 2011 the association has been back to its original name Associação Desportiva Ferroviária Vale do Rio Doce .
