Jacob Aaron Estes (born September 6, 1972 in Tulare County , California ) is an American film director and screenwriter who became internationally known for films such as Mean Creek and The Details .

Jacob Aaron Estes, born in 1972 in Tulare County, California, has worked in the film business as a director and screenwriter since 2001, initially for the short film Summoning , three years later in 2004 with his directorial debut Mean Creek , for which he also wrote the screenplay. also for the big screen. The independent production Mean Creek , which starred Rory Culkin , Ryan Kelley and Scott Mechlowicz , premiered at the Sundance Film Festival , where it won the Humanitas Prize , and was later shown at the Cannes Film Festival. The film, which was distributed by Paramount Classics, also received the Independent Spirit Award in the John Cassavetes Award in 2005 . In 2014 he also became active as a producer for the crime drama 7 Minutes . He then worked on the script for Rings (2017).

Estes is married to Gretchen Lieberum.
