The 1996 CONCACAF Gold Cup was the 13th game of the continental football championship for North Central America and the Caribbean and the 3rd under the name "Gold Cup" and took place in the USA from January 10th to 21st .

Mexico qualified for the 1997 FIFA Confederations Cup in Saudi Arabia by winning the tournament .
