The 1973 CONCACAF Nations Cup was the sixth game of the continental football championship for North, Central America and the Caribbean and took place in Haiti from November 29th to December 18th . The game was played exclusively in the capital Port-au-Prince at the Stade Sylvio Cator . As in the past, the six participants played the tournament winner in a simple league round, everyone against everyone.

For the first time, the tournament was also considered a qualification for the soccer world championship . Since the CONCACAF only got one starting place, only the tournament winner Haiti was qualified for the soccer world championship 1974 in Germany.

The 14 registered teams were divided into four groups of two teams and two groups of three teams each. The teams played against each other with a return game and the winner of each group qualified for the tournament.
