The CONCACAF Gold Cup 2017 was the 24th game of the continental football championship for North, Central America and the Caribbean and the 14th under the name Gold Cup . It took place in the United States from July 7-26, 2017 . It was initially played in a group stage in three groups of four teams and then in the knockout system .
The winner for the sixth time was the USA team , which defeated Jamaica 2-1 in the final. The defending champion was Mexico .

The qualification for the Gold Cup was organized by the three regional associations of CONCACAF .
North America
All three associations from North America were automatically qualified for the Gold Cup:
Central America
Due to the suspension of Guatemala , only six of the seven associations of the Unión Centroamericana de Fútbol (UNCAF) took part in the Copa Centroamericana 2017 , which took place in Panama in January 2017 . The first four teams qualified directly for the Gold Cup. The fifth-placed team played two play-off games against a representative of the CFU to participate in the Gold Cup.

Caribbean
25 of the 31 associations of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) took part in qualifying for the 2017 Caribbean Football Championship . In the three qualifying rounds, the four final round participants who qualified directly for the Gold Cup were determined. The three best runners-up in the third round played out the fifth-placed team. This played against a representative of the UNCAF two play-off games for participation in the Gold Cup.

Play-off games
Two play-off games for the last starting place in the Gold Cup took place between the respective fifth-placed teams in the Central American and Caribbean Cup. The first leg was played on March 24 and the second leg on March 28, 2017.

The venues were announced by CONCACAF in December 2016. It was played in 14 cities and 14 stadiums. Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara was chosen as the final stadium in February 2017 . Gold Cup games were held for the first time at Levi's Stadium, FirstEnergy Stadium , Nissan Stadium and Alamodome .
Nine of the 14 stadiums had a capacity of between 60,000 and 80,000 spectators. The largest planned stadium was the AT&T Stadium in Arlington with a capacity of 100,000, the smallest stadium, the Toyota Stadium in Frisco , only had space for 16,000.

Final round
In the quarter- and semi-finals, none was when it was tied after regulation time of 90 minutes extra time played, but it was tantamount to a penalty shootout . In the final, however, in such a case, as usual, extra time of 15 minutes would have been played and then (if still no winner had been determined) the penalty shoot-out would have been applied.

The CONCACAF nominated on 23 June 2017, the 17 referees who conducted games in Gold Cup. The 17 referees were supported by 25 assistants. Of the 17 main referees, three each came from the United States, Mexico and Honduras, and two from Costa Rica. Three referees belonged to an association whose team could not qualify for the competition.
The referees Aguilar and Geiger were allowed to lead games at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil . It was the second Gold Cup for the referees Bejarano, Guerrero, Moncada, Montero, Pitti, Ramos and Martínez and the third for Geiger and García. López and Marrufo participated as referees for the fifth time and Aguilar for the sixth time.
