Walter López (football referee)
Walter Alexander López Castellanos (born September 25, 1980 ) is a Guatemalan football referee .
López was nominated as a support referee for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and was appointed fourth official in four games . He has been an international referee since 2006.
At the 2014 FIFA Club World Cup , he led the final between Real Madrid and CA San Lorenzo de Almagro , which Real Madrid won 2-0.
López gained a lot of attention with a wrong decision on October 10, 2017 in the final group match of the CONCACAF qualification for the 2018 World Cup between Panama and Costa Rica, when he scored a goal for Panama in the 53rd minute, although the ball from Blas Pérez next to that Gate rolled. Panama won the game 2-1 in the end and only qualified for the World Cup with these three points.
