Svein Oddvar Moen (born January 22, 1979 in Haugesund ) is a Norwegian football referee . He has been on the FIFA list since January 1, 2005 .

career

Moen began his career as a soccer referee in 1995. Through appealing performances, he was promoted to the Tippeligaen , the highest Norwegian soccer league , in 2004 at the age of only 25 .

After Moen was added to the list of FIFA referees a year later, he was allowed to lead his first international match on July 14, 2005 when he played in the 2005/06 UEFA Cup in the match between Torpedo Kutaisi and BATE Baryssau (0: 1) was used. In 2007 Moen was accepted into the UEFA talent squad and received special training.

He had a preliminary career highlight in 2008 when he was entrusted with the management of the Norwegian cup final between Vålerenga Oslo and Stabæk Fotball (4-1).

Moen was able to make an excellent name for himself internationally, which enabled him to climb the career ladder step by step. On September 14, 2010 he made his debut in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League by directing the game between Bursaspor and Valencia CF (0-4) . On January 1, 2011, he was inducted into the elite group of FIFA referees. On July 10, 2011, he was able to celebrate his career highlight by leading the final of the U-17 World Cup 2011 between Mexico and Uruguay (2-0) in the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City, which was sold out with 98,943 spectators .

Moen missed a nomination for the 2012 European Championship , but was instead allowed to participate in the Summer Olympics in the same year.

As part of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup , he was in charge of the first leg of the intercontinental relegation between Jordan and Uruguay , which Uruguay won 5-0. At the subsequent tournament in Brazil he took part as a substitute referee and was used in several games as fourth official .

In December 2015, UEFA announced that Moen would be one of 18 referees to be used at the 2016 European Football Championship in France . There he was used in two games in the group stage. Due to some controversial decisions in his game management, he was one of the 6 referees who were sent home by UEFA with their team before the start of the knockout games.
