Joel Aguilar

Joel Aguilar (born July 2, 1975 ) is a football referee from El Salvador and since 2001 international referee of FIFA . He lives in San Salvador .

He was selected as referee for the 2007 Junior World Cup in Canada, where he directed the game between the USA and South Korea on June 30, 2007 , between New Zealand and Gambia on July 5, 2007 and between Austria and Chile on July 8, 2007 .

He was selected as referee for the 2010 Soccer World Cup . His participation was in doubt as El Salvador was suspended by FIFA for government interference in football. He did not lead a game at the World Cup.

Aguilar was also nominated as referee for the 2014 World Cup . He directed two group stage games.
