Koman Coulibaly

Koman Coulibaly (born July 4, 1970 ) is a Malian football referee . He has been an international referee for FIFA since 1999 .

He participated as a referee at the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia , the 2006 African Cup of Nations in Egypt , the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana and the 2010 African Cup of Nations in Angola . In 2010 he directed the final between Ghana and Egypt. He was selected as one of four African referees for the 2010 World Cup .

On June 18, 2010, Coulibaly headed the preliminary round match between the USA and Slovenia , where he came under criticism for wrong decisions. The main point of criticism was the non-recognition of the American winning goal by Maurice Edu within the last minutes of the game. According to a report by Focus , FIFA did not want to use Coulibaly in the further course of the World Cup. An unnamed FIFA source was quoted as saying: "FIFA wants to uphold the referee standard. If a mistake was made that affected the outcome of the match, it is very unlikely that he will play another game in the tournament will guide. " In the end, the Malian official was not used in any other game in the World Cup finals.
