Mbocayaty del Guairá is a village and district of the same name in the Guairá department in Paraguay with 2135 inhabitants (2002 census).

origin of the name

Mbocayaty is derived from the Guaraní word mbokajaty and means something like palm grove or palm grove.

location

It is a larger village near the capital of the Guairá district , Villarrica , which is seven kilometers by road. The village is only 10 km from the German colony Independencia and in the immediate vicinity of the Ybytyruzú National Park. Mbocayaty del Guairá is located on the direct road (Ruta 8) from Villarrica to Coronel Oviedo .

description

The place consists of two areas, the center with smaller plots and the somewhat more spacious Costa Mbocayaty. The village has several soccer teams, for example the Sol de America team . Like most villages and towns in Paraguay , Mbocayaty del Guairá has a large plaza in the city center in front of the town hall, in Mbocayaty this plaza is designed as a children's playground with swings, climbing frames, etc. The village also has several bakeries, butchers, small supermarkets, churches, schools, a radio station and four police stations. The center of the village was completely asphalted in 2012 as part of a beautification project and equipped with parking spaces. In addition, the park in the center has been renovated and royal palms have been planted in many important places.

population

Mbocayaty's population consists largely of Paraguayans, but there is also a small proportion of Germans, Brazilians and other foreigners. Several times a year, well-attended events such as village festivals, car rallies, cattle auctions, horse races and much more take place here.

Costa-Mbocayaty

Costa-Mbocayaty is the part of the village located a little further outside the center of Mbocayaty. In Costa-Mbocayaty there are mainly large plots of 3-15 hectares. In Costa-Mbocayaty, livestock is raised on a small scale. Costa-Mbocayaty is a lot deeper than the center of Mbocayaty itself and after heavy rains a large lake is often created (primarily towards Villarrica directly on Ruta 8), which makes many areas of Costa-Mbocayaty unsuitable as building plots. In addition, all sand paths were improved in 2012 as part of the above-mentioned beautification campaign (partly with paving stones).
