Guairá ( Guaraní : Guaira ) is a department in Paraguay , it is one of a total of 17 administrative districts .

In Guairá is the highest hill in Paraguay, the Tres Kandu , at 842 m above sea level , in the Yvytyruzú nature reserve .

In Guairá mainly agriculture is practiced. It is the main producer of sugar cane (with about 41% of the national production). There is also cattle breeding and the only wine-growing region in Paraguay is in Guairá.
