Yataity del Guairá

Yataity del Guairá is a village in Paraguay with 1,815 inhabitants (2002 census). It is known for its Ao Poí embroidery .
Toponymy
The toponym Yataity comes from the Guaraní and is composed of yataí = Butia paraguayensis , a type of palm, and ty = "a collection of".
location
It is a smaller village near the capital of the Guairá district , Villarrica , which is 15 kilometers by road. The village is a bit off the Ruta 8 (road connecting Villarrica to Coronel Oviedo ) and has two access roads which form a circle in the village.
description
The place consists of many small plots (one or two lots with 400 or 800 m²), which are located right next to the main road. A little outside the town center, the plots are often a bit larger and can be a few hectares in size.
The place has a large square (plaza) where the town hall / parish office and the church are also located. The place offers enough space for celebrations, which are celebrated all year round, and is child-friendly. The village also has bakeries, butchers, small supermarkets (despensas), churches, schools and a police station with a patrol car .
population
The majority of the population of Yataity consists of Paraguayans, but there is also a very small proportion of Germans who have now settled in this village. The village is well known for its embroidery.
In 2010, under the leadership of the Coopeduc cooperative, the residents started a campaign entitled “Yataity, the cleanest village in Guairá” to cleanse their place of all the rubbish that was previously scattered and to fight against environmental pollution.
