Daniel Bennett 2009

Daniel Frazer Bennett (born August 22, 1976 in Johannesburg ) is a South African football referee . He was in charge of games at the 2009 African Junior Football Championship, the 2009 CAF Super Cup game and one of the 2008 and 2009 CAF Champions League semi-finals . As the sixth man in both FA Cup semi-finals in 2009, he aroused the British sports press, who saw his appointment to this post created for his missions as a mere courtesy of the head of the English referees committee for his friend Bennett.

Bennett, however, is not the number one referee in South Africa and was therefore not considered for the 2010 World Cup in his own country, but together with his compatriot Jerome Damon he was one of the referees at the 2010 African Cup .

He was voted the best referee of the 2000/01 season of the South African Premier Soccer League .
