The CAF Super Cup is a football competition for club teams of the African Football Association CAF, which has been held since 1993 between the winners of the CAF Champions League and the African Cup Winners' Cup and is comparable to the UEFA Super Cup . After the cup winners' competition was discontinued in 2003, the Champions League winner will play against the winner of the CAF Confederation Cup, which was held for the first time in 2004 .
The competition is decided in one game and takes place at the beginning of the following calendar year. With a few exceptions in the 1990s, the CAF Champions League winner always has home rights. If there is a tie after the end of the regular playing time, extra time followed in the past and then possibly a penalty shoot-out . Since 2011, a penalty shoot-out has followed the regular playing time.
