The Asian Super Cup was an Asian club soccer competition held from 1995 to 2002 between the annual winners of the Asian Club Championship and the Asian Cup Winners' Cup and organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) . It was comparable to the UEFA Super Cup or the South American Recopa .

In 2003, Asian club football underwent extensive restructuring, as a result of which both previous qualifying competitions were merged into the AFC Champions League , although this is only open to clubs from the strongest associations in Asia. The next best associations send their participants to the AFC Cup , the AFC President's Cup is intended for “footballing developing countries” . Playing a Supercup had become superfluous. This measure was part of the Vision Asia plan presented by the AFC , with which one tried to take account of the enormous development differences within the continent and to prevent the association from breaking up into different spheres of interest.

The competition was played in a two-legged manner. If both games were tied, the away goals rule applied , and if their number was the same there was extra time in the second leg after the end of regular time and, if necessary, penalty shoot-outs .

The games and winners

At the eight events, the representative of the national championship and three times that of the cup winners competition prevailed.
