North African Football Cup
The North African Football Cup ( French : Coupe d'Afrique du Nord ) was a football club competition in the French regions of North Africa. The competition, introduced by the French Federation in 1931, lasted until 1955, when the colonies gradually became independent. During the Second World War , the competition was temporarily suspended. Eight, later 32 teams from Morocco , Tunisia and the three Algerian regions of Algiers , Oran and Constantine took part in the competition. It is unclear what criteria the regions used for their participants.
After the independence of Morocco and Tunisia in 1956, the competition was continued as Coupe d'Algérie with the sole participation of the three Algerian regions until independence from France in 1962 .
