Club career

From the end of the 1990s, the striker Flávio played for the Angolan record champions Petro Atlético from the capital Luanda . At the beginning of the 2000s he had his greatest successes there. The team became Angolan champions twice in a row and was one of the best four teams in Africa in the 2001 Champions League season. In addition, he was twice top scorer in the Angolan league during this time .

In 2005 Flavio moved to the top African club al Ahly Kairo in Egypt , with whom he was four times Egyptian champion and two cup winners until 2009 and also won the African Champions League in 2005, 2006 and 2008 . Flavio himself was the top scorer in the Egyptian league twice.

From 2009 to 2011 he played on the Arabian Peninsula for the Saudi Arabian club Al Shabab from Riyadh and al-Kharitiyath SC from Qatar. From 2011 to 2012 he was under contract in Europe with the Belgian first division club Lierse SK , where he only made a few appearances.

At the end of his career he played for his first club Petro Atlético again for two seasons and was once again cup winner in 2013.

National team

Flávio played for the Angolan national team from 2000 to 2012 and, according to the Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation, is the record national player and second-best goalscorer in his country.

In 2001 and 2004 he won the South African Championship with Angola , where he scored the winning goal in the final second leg against Zimbabwe in 2001 . At the 2006 World Cup , he scored the first and so far only goal in his home country in the history of the World Cup in the last group game against Iran . He was eliminated with Angola after the preliminary round. Flavio also took part in the African Championships several times and was also in the squad in 2008 and 2010, when the Angolan team reached the quarter-finals and thus their best placement in this competition so far.
