Wael Gomaa ( Arabic :وائل جمعة, DMG Wāʾil Ǧumʿa ; * August 3, 1975 in Mahalla al-Kubra ) is a former Egyptian soccer player .

He played as a defender at al Ahly Cairo , where he won two Egyptian championships, three national cups and three editions of the CAF Champions League , as well as in the Egyptian national team . From 2007 to 2008 he was loaned to the Qatari association Al-Sailiya .

Wael Gomaa was a regular for the Egyptian national team at the 2006 African Cup of Nations , where he played on the starting line-up in every game. He also finished third with Al-Ahli at the 2006 FIFA Club World Cup .

Wael Gomaa was also in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations squad . On March 26, 2011, he played his 100th international match against South Africa .
