Djamel Haimoudi

Djamel Haimoudi ( Arabic جمال حيمودي, DMG Ǧamāl Ḥaimūdī ; * December 10, 1970 in Oran ) is a former Algerian football referee . He was FIFA's international referee between 2004 and 2014 .

Career

Haimoudi was a referee at the U-20 World Cup in 2011 and the Africa Cups in 2008, 2012 and 2013. He has also directed several games in the CAF Champions League and qualifying games for World Cups. In 2012 he was named Africa's Referee of the Year by the CAF. Two months later he was appointed as referee for the final between Nigeria and Burkina Faso at the 2013 African Cup of Nations.

He took part in the Club World Cup in 2012 and the Confederations Cup in 2013 (including a third place match) and was selected for the 2014 World Cup .

After leading two group matches, a round of 16 and the match for third place at the World Cup, Haimoudi ended his active refereeing career, which he had announced in January 2014.
