Ricardo Montero (born March 6, 1986 ) is a Costa Rican soccer referee .

Ricardo Montero has been a FIFA referee since 2011, leading international matches. Since then, he was also in the Copa America Centenario 2016 in the United States , the 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup and 2017 as well as the U-17 World Cup 2017 in India , where he and the 3rd place match between Brazil and Mali initiated, in use . He acted as video referee at the U-20 World Cup in South Korea in 2017 . In the CONCACAF Champions League 2018 he led the final first leg between Toronto FC and Deportivo Guadalajara (1: 2).

Montero was also to be used as a referee for CONCACAF at the 2016 FIFA Club World Cup , but had to cancel for private reasons. The Mexican team around Roberto García Orozco was nominated for him .

In 2018, Montero was nominated by FIFA for the 2018 World Cup in Russia . He did not preside over any games, but served as fourth official four times.
