Dahlan Jumaan al-Hamad ( Arabic دحلان جمعان الحمد, DMG Daḥlān Ǧumʿān al-Ḥamad ; Born January 18, 1957 ) is a Qatari sports official and has been President of the Asian Athletics Federation since 2013 .

biography

Dahlan Jumaan al-Hamad completed a financial degree in the United States, from which he graduated with a bachelor's degree. He also received two master's degrees in management and military science, both in the United States.

In addition to Arabic, al-Hamad speaks English, is married and has five children.

Sporty functions

Dahlan Jumaan al-Hamad took over his first sport-political function in 1988 as chairman of the GCC Athletics, which he held until 2000. In 1996 he was elected President of the Qatari Athletics Federation until 2008 , and has been doing this again since 2012. He was last elected in 2019 for a four-year term. He was also Secretary General of the Qatari Olympic Committee between 1999 and 2001 and part of the Marketing Committee of the World Athletics Federation (IAAF) from 1999 to 2003 . He has also been President of the Qatari Military Sports Association since 1998.
