The FIFA Club World Cup 2000 ( Engl. : FIFA Club World Championship 2000 ) was the first to host a global football competition for club teams and took place from 5 to 14 January Brazil.

Despite a participation bonus of 2.5 million US dollars and an additional 1.5 to 3.5 million US dollars for the first three places, the top international clubs for a long time defended themselves against participation and the associated additional burden in the already very tight international one Appointment calendar.
