Freddy Eusebio Rincón Valencia (born August 14, 1966 in Buenaventura , Colombia ) is a former Colombian football player and captain of the national team.

The midfielder completed 84 games for the Colombian national soccer team and scored 17 goals. He participated in three world championships: 1990 , 1994 and 1998 .

Freddy Rincón scored his most famous goal on June 16, 1990 in the World Cup game against Germany , when he shot the ball through the legs of the German goalkeeper Bodo Illgner to 1: 1 in stoppage time and thus helped Colombia advance to the round of 16.

Rincón began his career in 1986 with Atlético Buenaventura. His other stations were Santa Fe CD and América de Cali in Colombia, SSC Naples in Italy, Real Madrid in Spain, as well as SE Palmeiras , FC Santos and Corinthians São Paulo in Brazil.

After the end of his active career, Freddy Rincón founded the coffee house chain "Café Rincon", which is particularly active in Brazil. In 2005, on the recommendation of his friend Vanderlei Luxemburgo, he was appointed coach of the southern Brazilian club Iraty Sport Club .

Freddy Rincón was arrested in 2007 for alleged money laundering and drug trafficking . In April 2015 it was announced that Rincón was wanted by Interpol with an arrest warrant . In 2018, Rincon was exonerated from the allegations against him.
