The FIFA Club World Cup 2021 ( English FIFA Club World Cup 2021 ) will be the 18th edition of this global football competition for club teams. The competition will be held for the first time with 24 teams and will take place in China for the first time .

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic postponing the 2020 European Championship and the Copa America by one year to the summer of 2021, FIFA is postponing the Club World Cup, which was actually planned for June and July 2021, to a later date (2021, 2022 or 2023 ).

mode

There will be a new mode for the expanded Club World Cup. The OFC representative first plays a play-off game against the third AFC participant for the last available place. The 24 qualified teams are then divided into eight groups of three, in which everyone plays once against everyone. The eight group winners reach the quarter-finals, from which the game continues in the knockout system .

Venues

The Chinese Football Association CFA announced the eight venues on December 28, 2019.
