The FIFA Club World Cup 2013 ( English FIFA Club World Cup 2013 ) was the tenth edition of this global football competition for club teams and took place for the first time in Morocco from 11 to 21 December. The winner was the team of FC Bayern Munich .
Award
Originally, four countries applied to host the 2013 and 2014 tournaments:
-
Iran
-
Morocco
-
South Africa
-
United Arab Emirates (Been host the tournaments in 2009 and 2010 in Abu Dhabi )
On December 17, 2011, FIFA awarded the contract to Morocco.
mode
There were no changes compared to the competition mode that has been in effect since 2007. The tournament was held with seven participants. In addition to the six winners of the continental championship competitions at club level from Asia (AFC), Africa (CAF), the Caribbean, North and Central America (CONCACAF), South America (CONMEBOL), Europe (UEFA) and Oceania (OFC), the Moroccan champions also took part who first had to play an elimination match against the winner of the OFC Champions League. If a club from Morocco had won the CAF Champions League, the best-placed non-Moroccan club would have qualified. The winner of the qualifying match played two participants in the semi-finals with the representatives of Africa, Asia and CONCACAF. For this, the teams from Europe and South America were set as before and only played two games each. The game was played in a knockout system . Eight games took place over eleven days. The winning team received 3.65 million euros, the second-placed 2.92 million euros, the third-placed 1.82 million euros and the fourth-placed 1.46 million euros.

final
After the surprising 3-1 success in the semifinals against Atlético Mineiro from Brazil, Raja Casablanca was the final opponent of Bayern Munich . Dante and Thiago gave Bayern Munich an early lead. After a unilateral first half with almost 80 percent possession for Bayern, Casablanca could not use Bayern's negligence in the second half. In the closing stages, Xherdan Shaqiri hit the crossbar on the other side. Thus, FC Bayern Munich became the first German team to secure the FIFA Club World Cup and thus their fifth title in 2013.

Technical aids
The so-called free kick spray was used for the first time at a Club World Cup . In the case of free kicks , the referee used a spray can to mark the distance the footballers would have to keep from the ball if they were to form a wall and where the shooter would have to shoot. The line sprayed on the lawn was no longer visible after about a minute. Critics complained that this news delayed the game.
In addition, goal-line technology was tested again. After two other systems had been tested the year before , the GoalControl-4D system from the German company GoalControl , which is based on seven high-speed cameras per goal , was used in Morocco in 2013 . During the tournament, stadium visitors were shown animations of controversial goal scenes on large display boards for the first time. These animations, which were also broadcast on television and are based on the GoalControl Replay system, made it clear whether a ball had crossed the goal line in full, a necessary requirement for a correct goal.
Television broadcast
The ARD transferred to the UEFA Champions League winner Bayern Munich live games.
