The FIFA Club World Cup 2018 ( English FIFA Club World Cup 2018 ) was the 15th edition of this global football competition for club teams. It was held for the fourth time in the United Arab Emirates . Brazil, Japan and the United Arab Emirates had originally applied to host the 2017 and 2018 tournaments. On March 21, 2015, FIFA awarded the United Arab Emirates the contract for both tournaments.

mode

There were no changes compared to the competition mode that has been in effect since 2007. The tournament was held with seven participants. In addition to the six winners of the continental championship competitions at club level from Asia (AFC), Africa (CAF), the Caribbean, North and Central America (CONCACAF), South America (CONMEBOL), Europe (UEFA) and Oceania (OFC), the champions also withdrew the league of the host country - this year the United Arab Emirates - which first had to play a qualifying game against the winners of the OFC Champions League. If a club from the United Arab Emirates had previously won the AFC Champions League, the loser of the AFC Champions League final would have qualified instead. The winner of the qualifying match played two participants in the semi-finals with the representatives of Africa, Asia and CONCACAF. The participants from Europe and South America were already set for this and only played two games each. The game was played in a knockout system .
