history

The small town called Zimowa after 1785, Zymowa around 1818, Szymowo after 1871, Zimowo after 1898 and Zymowo until 1929 was founded in 1762. As a manor village, it was a residential area in the municipality of Schaden ( Stare Sady in Polish ) in the Sensburg district in the Prussian province of East Prussia until 1945 . In 1785 Zimowa was mentioned as an inheritance with three fireplaces. The number of inhabitants is 11 in 1818, 3 in 1839, 41 in 1867, just like in 1905. On June 30, 1929, Zymowo was renamed Winterau .

As a result of the war, the place came to Poland in 1945 with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name Cimowo . Today it is a locality within the urban and rural municipality Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) in powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 of the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .
