Śniardewno ( German forester's house Spirding ) is a small settlement in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural municipality of Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).
Geographical location
Śniardewno is located on the west bank of Lake Nikolaik ( Jezioro Mikołajskie in Polish ), 22 kilometers southeast of the district town of Mrągowo ( German Sensburg ).
history
The Forsthaus Spirding was founded in 1851 and belonged to the Nikolaiken state forest. Until 1945, the small town was a residential area in the municipality of Popiellnen (1928 to 1945 Spirding (village), in Polish Popielno ) in the Sensburg district in the Prussian province of East Prussia .
When all of southern East Prussia came to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war, the Forsthaus Spirding settlement was also affected. The small place received the Polish name form "Śniardewno" and is today a place within the urban and rural municipality Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) in Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship belongs.

Until 1945, the forester's house Spirding was parish in the Protestant parish Nikolaiken in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Roman Catholic St. Adalbert parish of Sensburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today Śniardewno belongs to the Protestant or Catholic community in Mikołajki in the Masuria diocese of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and located in the Ełk diocese of the Polish Catholic Church .

Śniardewno can be reached both from the town of Mikołajki and from Popielno ( Popiellnen until 1928 , Spirding (village) from 1928 to 1945 ) via a side road. There is no train connection.
