Grabnik ( German  Grabnick ) is a small place in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the urban and rural municipality Mikołajki ( German  Nikolaiken ) in the Powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ).

Geographical location

Grabnik is located in the middle of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 15 kilometers southeast of the district town of Mrągowo ( German  Sensburg ).

history

The small town called Grabnik after 1905 , then Grabnick until 1945 , was founded in 1681 and originally consisted of only one large courtyard. In 1785 Grabnik was mentioned as a " köllmisches Gut", and as an estate until 1945 it was a place to live in the municipality of Eichelswalde ( Świnie Oko in Polish ) in the Sensburg district in the Gumbinnen district (from 1905: Allenstein district ) in the Prussian province of East Prussia .

As a result of the war, Grabnick came to Poland in 1945 along with all of southern East Prussia and received the Polish form of the name Grabnik . Today the place is integrated after Zełwągi (Selbongen) in the urban and rural municipality Mikołajki (Nikolaiken) in powiat Mrągowski ( Sensburg district ), until 1998 the Suwałki Voivodeship , since then part of the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

church

Until 1945 Grabnick was parish in the Protestant Church of Barranowen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of St. Adalbert in Sensburg in the Diocese of Warmia . Today Grabnik belongs to the Evangelical Parish Mikołajki in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland and to the Catholic Parish Baranowo in the Diocese of Ełk of the Polish Catholic Church .

traffic

Grabnick is located south of the Polish state road 16 (formerly German Reichsstraße 127 ) and can be reached directly from Zełwągi (Selbongen) via a land route. Until 2009, Zełwągi was also the next station on the - now no longer used - railway line Czerwonka – Ełk .
