The national highway 127 ( R 127 ) was until 1945 a state road of the German Reich . It ran in the province of East Prussia in a west-east direction from Bischdorf ( Polish: Biskupiczki ) near Freystadt (Kisielice) via Allenstein ( Olsztyn ) to Lyck (Ełk). During the war operations after 1939, the start of the R 127 bis Gruppe (Grupa) at Graudenz (Grudziądz) was brought forward and the end was postponed to the Polish-Lithuanian border in Budzisko bei Suwałki ( Sudauen ) Street.

The R 127 established connections to 14 other state roads. Their total length was 385 kilometers.

Today the route of the old R 127 runs through three Polish voivodeships: Kuyavian-Pomeranian , Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie . The longest part of the former R 127 between Dolna Grupa ( Niedergruppe ) and Ełk ( Lyck ) is covered by the Polish state road DK 16 , supplemented in shorter sections by DK 65 and DK 8 and the voivodship roads DW 272 and DW 653 .
