The national highway 342 ( R 342 ) was until 1945 a state road of the German Reich , the part on the annexation of Austria was gekom menem 1938 to the German Reich, partly on annektiertem 1938/1939 Czech territory. The road began around three kilometers west of Göpfritz on what was then Reichsstraße 170 (now Waldviertler Straße B 2) and led on the route of the current Waidhofener Straße B 5 via Waidhofen an der Thaya , Heidenreichstein , Nová Bystřice (Neubistritz), Jindřichův Hradec(Neuhaus) and from here on the route of the Silnice I / 23 to Dráchov about 4 kilometers south of Soběslav , where it again met the Reichsstraße 170.
Their total length was around 90 kilometers.
