Richard Hächler (born February 8, 1897 in Lenzburg ; died March 22, 1966 in Aarau ) was a Swiss architect .

life and work

The son of a master carpenter obtained his school-leaving certificate at the Aarau Cantonal School in 1917 ; During his time at high school, he had already completed a year and a half as a bricklayer. He finished his studies at the ETH Zurich in 1921 with a diploma under Karl Moser . The following year he went to the Netherlands for a stay abroad, although it is not known who he worked for, but he was probably traveling with Hans Hofmann , Hans Schmidt and others. In 1922 he returned to his native Lenzburg for a building contract, opened another office in Aarau in 1929 and in 1949 together with Ernst Pfeiffer in Zurich.

Hächler, who was committed to the New Building , initially lost public building contracts, namely the district schools in Baden and Lenzburg, through his insistence on modern stylistic elements. After the construction of a number of single-family houses, the factories of the Wisa-Gloria-Werke in Lenzburg and Bruggisser in Wohlen were published as the first larger buildings. He then built several schools, hospitals in Aarau and Zofingen, other industrial and silo buildings as well as residential buildings, for example for the construction and woodworkers' association.
