Reichsstraße 356 ( R 356 ) was designated as Reichsstraße 356 ( R 356 ) after it was taken over into German civil administration as the CdZ area of Lorraine in 1940 to 1944, the road connection treated as Reichsstraße , which started from Metz in the French department of Moselle (until 1918 district of Lorraine in the realm of Alsace-Lorraine ) and there branched off from Reichsstraße 57 , which had been extended into French territory , ran along the route of the former Route nationale 43 (at times Route nationale 381 , currently Route départementale D 643) and in Sainte-Marie-aux-Chênes the border to the Département Meurthe-et- Moselle , over which she continued towards Briey .
