The road ran in three sections from an intersection with national road 3 near Metz to an intersection with national road 64 near Douzy .

In 1973 it was completely taken over by national road 43 , which in 2006 was completely graduated to department roads on this section .

The length of the section from Douzy to Montmédy was 35 kilometers, from Longuyon to the national road 52 to 28.5 kilometers and from Briey to the national road 3 21.5 kilometers.
